We are a small CFA (Cat Fanciers Association) registered Maine Coon cattery located in central Maine. We raised Maine Coons for six years and for the last five years we have been working closely with a network of trusted breeders and placing their kittens. The kittens are born & raised in their catteries and come to us just before they are ready to join their new families. We do plan on breeding again but for the time being, we will continue to work with our breeder friends. The breeders that we work with are located in Ukraine & Russia so they have full European lines. The kittens are CFA, WCF, RUI, or TICA registered. These breeders are absolutely wonderful and have been breeding Maine Coons for many years and their breeding practices are very similar to our own.
The kittens are socialized exceptionally well, raised underfoot and are treated as members of the family. Each baby is outgoing, adventurous & affectionate because they are born into family home environments and get tons of love and attention from day one. Some have dogs & children and some do not. Although, the ones who are not raised with dogs & children for the first few months adjust very well. Maine Coons are great family pets and are wonderful with children. We have three children who adore the cats/kittens and the kittens are amazing with them. They are a very dog-like breed so they get along great with their canine friends!
Our goal is to provide healthy, beautiful, friendly, Maine Coon kittens that make wonderful companions for many years to come. Our kittens are able to leave our home at 3.5-4.5 months of age. This totally depends on the individual kitten. When I list a kitten, I will include a month that he/she will be ready and we will narrow down a pickup date a few weeks prior. I understand that some families may need more time to plan and I will try to provide accurate information as early as possible but these estimated dates may change. The kittens are sent home at this age for many reasons. First, Maine Coons develop slower than most breeds so this extra time with their mother and litter mates is very good for them. Second, we cannot import kittens before 3.5 months of age and I keep them in my care for two weeks before sending them home to monitor their health. Third, the kittens receive their rabies and three distemper vaccinations before going home and we need this time to complete them.
If you are purchasing a kitten from our cattery, the parents will be health tested for Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM), Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD), Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA), Feline Leukemia Virus (FeLV), and Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV). Most of the breeders that I work with test their adults as well but some have not completed this testing. If these tests are important to you, please mention this and I will only offer you kittens from tested parents. If you fall in love with a kitten whose parents are not tested, we can certainly have your kitten tested. If you decide to have your kitten individually tested, the tests are $44 each. Regardless of genetic testing, every kitten is tested for FeLV/FIV before going home.
We are a closed cattery. We do not offer outside stud service for other catteries. For health and safety concerns for our kittens, we do not allow casual visits to our home. If you are purchasing one of our own kittens, the litter must be eight weeks or older and our imported kittens can be visited when they arrive. Visitors must be willing to wash/sanitize their hands upon arrival and we do not allow any outside pets in our home. Only after a deposit has been made do we allow visits to choose or to pick up a kitten and visits need to be scheduled ahead of time. This is to avoid visitors who are simply looking to see the kittens and have no intention of purchasing. We are not a petting zoo or a pet shop. Young kittens are susceptible to germs/illness and we want to keep their exposure to a minimum. If you are interested in seeing the kittens we are more than happy to send pictures. We take/post many pictures of our cats & kittens and love sharing them! Photos of each set of parents are also available. We take very good care of our cats & kittens and put their health at the top of our priority list. Your veterinarian will appreciate the fact that we are a closed cattery too. It makes for a much healthier kitten!
Please feel free to ask us any questions you may have. We are always available!
